Team India continued their dominant run in the Asia Cup 2025, defeating Oman by 21 runs in their final group-stage clash to secure the top spot in Group A. The defending champions have now advanced to the Super Four stage unbeaten, where they will be joined by Pakistan, Sri Lanka, and Bangladesh.
Playing Oman for the first time in any format, India posted 188/8 after electing to bat. Sanju Samson starred with the bat, scoring a crucial 56 off 45 balls, supported by Abhishek Sharma (38 off 15), Tilak Varma (29 off 18), and Axar Patel (26 off 13). Oman’s Faisal Shah was the pick of the bowlers with 2/23.
In response, Oman showed resilience with Aamir Kaleem (64 off 46) and Hammad Mirza (51 off 33) putting up a fighting 93-run stand. However, their chase faltered after Kaleem’s dismissal in the 18th over. Hardik Pandya and Arshdeep Singh sealed the win for India, with Arshdeep also achieving the milestone of becoming the first Indian bowler to claim 100 T20I wickets.
Oman, winless in three games, exit the tournament alongside Afghanistan, UAE, and Hong Kong.
The Super Four stage kicks off on 20 September with Sri Lanka facing Bangladesh, followed by the highly anticipated India vs Pakistan clash on 21 September in Dubai. The top two teams will meet in the grand final on 28 September.
